<p>"Improvements in and relating to fluid couplings" A viscous shear fluid coupling comprising a first, annular, rotatable member and a second, rotatable member. The second member has an internal annular chamber in which the first annular member is received. The first and second annular members have opposed radially extending surfaces in closespaced relationship. Viscous coupling fluid is provided in said chamber for transmitting torque from one member to the other member upon rotation of the one member as a driving member to rotate the other member as a driven member. At least one groove is provided across each said radially extending surface of the driving member. The radially inner end of each groove leads the radially outer end of that groove in the direction Or operational rotation of the driving member. This causes the viscous coupling fluid to be pumped towards the periphery of the driving member upon rotation of the driving member in the latter direction.</p> |
