Pyroole, thioplene or furan derivs. are prepd. by heating a beta, gamma-dichloroketone: O=CR4-CHr1-CC1R2-CHR3Cl (where R1, R2 and R3 are H or opt. halogenated alkyl and R4 is alkyl or aryl) with an amine R5NH2 (where R5 is H, alkyl or aryl), H2S or water while maintaining optimum temp./time conditions for each cpd. Products are used as intermediates in production of medicinal cpds. (for example vitamin H from 2-pentylthiophene), dyes and presticides. |
