A catheter having an inflation balloon 14 at its distal end constituted by an annular sleeve joined to the outer surface of its shaft at spaced circumferential zones 34,36. The inner surface of the sleeve is permitted to contact the outer wall of the shaft at spaced areas only to minimize the tendency of the sleeve to adhere to the shaft when it is sought to inflate the balloon. This may be achieved by providing the external surface of the shaft or the internal surface of the sleeve with spaced circumferential ribs 44, or by separating the sleeve from the shaft by criss- crossed strands of scrim material. <IMAGE> |
