<p>Removal of N cpds. from organic liqs. is carried out by liq.-phase contact with a solid sorbent (I) on which 0.001-20 (pref. 0.1-17.5) wt.% of anhydrous HCl or HBr is adsorbed. (I) is crystalline or amorphous SiO2, bauxite, X zeolite, Y zeolite, Al2O3, SiO2-Al2O3 or a mixt. of SiO2 and Al2O3. The process is esp. useful for denitrification of hydrocarbon feedstocks, esp. lubricating oil stocks. Adsorption of HCl or HBr on the sorbents greatly increases the time for which they are capable of maintaining high (>90%) N removal.</p> |
