Sliding gate with bottom guide channel - has hinged sections of cover plates operated by edge of sliding gate leaf

The gate leaf(1) is suspended on rollers running on an overhead rail and has a guide channel at the bottom. The guide channel (4) is sunk below floor level and in order to provide a smooth floor surface for vehicles when the gate is open a set of hinged cover plates (5) are fitted. The plates are wider than the channel and the hinges are inside the building and the plates bridge the channel width by their own weight. The gate leaf edge pointing in the opening direction has a cam element (8) on its bottom part shaped in such a way that during the closing movement of the leaf the covers are lifted one-by-one to make room for the bottom part of the leaf to slide in the channel (4). When each plate section (5) is lifted to such an extend that its upper edge is clear of the inner surface of the leaf, each section rests against the leaf by rollers while the upper edge of the plate is kept clear of the leaf surface.
