5,6-Benzo- gamma -pyrone derivatives of the formula I: <IMAGE> in which the symbols have the meanings given in Patent Claim 1, are prepared by condensation of corresponding 2-methylchromones with aldehydes corresponding to the right-hand moiety of the above formula. They display antiallergic and antiulcerogenic actions and can be used in particular for the treatment of bronchial asthma and other allergic disorders.
