<p>A simple height adjustment mechanism is designed to change the height of a bicycle saddle while in motion. There is a spring loaded saddle support and a securing catch (4) to hold the support in the selected up or down position. The catch is released by applying the brake lever, to which it is linked by a cable drive. The adjustment allows the rider to set off with the saddle in the lower position, so that his feet can reach the ground. When travelling he can raise his weight from the saddle and allow it to rise to the raised position, under spring pressure. In this position he obtains an efficient drive on the pedals. Application of the brakes drops the seat to allow his feet to reach the ground.</p> |
