The burners are mounted on a mobile. C-shaped frame, which can pref. be clamped in a horizontal position and used for making longitudinal or circular welds. The frame can pref. also be clamped in a vertical position and used for vertical welds in which the burners are driven upwards. The machine is pref. suitable for different types of welding on all types of metals. The machine can pref. also be used to make helical welds on pipes; and one burner may be replaced by a nozzle supplying a gas during the vertical welding of small dia. workpieces via one ascending burner. The welding machine is pref. switched off if an accidental short circuit occurs at one of the electrodes. A very versatile machine is provided where the C-shaped frame is located on a cross-table mounted on a driven slide.
