Pulse frequency meter worn on wrist - measures blood pulse rate from electrode and uses oscillator to give time display signals

The pulse-frequency meter is designed to be worn on the user's wrist like a wrist-watch and has two electrodes to sample the blood flow potential. A computer inside the meter calculates the pulse rate from two consecutive pulse beats and passes the result to an optical display (3). The rear of the meter casing forms one of the electrodes. The second electrode is insulated from the first and is on the front of the casing and is touched by the user's other hand. The second electrode may be a part of the on/off switch of the meter. The casing is made of plastic. A frequency divider (8) driven by a crystal oscillator (7) is used to determine frequency. When the meter is off, the frequency divider is used to indicate the time of day.
