These are (i) polyethers of formula: where x = 2-6, m and n are > O, r and s are integers including O, R is H, CH3, CH2Cl, CHCl2, CCl3 or Q, and Q is C2-25 (cyclo)alkyl, aryl or aralkyl in which the chains may be interrupted by O, S, alkenic groups or CO groups and may contain dependent hydrocarbon or halogen groups, and (ii) polyurethanes obtained from these polyethers. The polyethers may also be used as plasicisers or lubricants. They are cheaper and less crystalline, and have lower specific weight and melting point than similar polyethers which contain thioformal groups but no monosulphide groups. The polyurethanes have better low-temperatures properties and better physical properties.
