Process for the production of fibrillated structures made of synthetic resin

Fibrillated structures made of synthetic resins such as polyolefins are obtained by sudden decompression of a mixture of molten polymer and solvent. The mixture additionally contains a monomer capable of being grafted onto the resin, such as maleic anhydride. The decompression is performed through an appropriate orifice at elevated pressure and temperature conditions. The fibrillated structures obtained are employed together with cellulose fibres, towards which they exhibit good reactivity. Papers manufactured in this way have an excellent breaking length.
