<p>A selvedge-shedding device for a dobby mechanism is claimed which is driven from the same cams which operate the reciprocating knives of the main dobby, by means of additional levers engaging the cams on the opposite side of the camshaft to the knife-operating levers. The angular position of the fulrcum of the additional levers is adjustable with respect to the camshaft, so that the phase difference between the motions of the main shed and the selvedge shed can be varied. The additional levers give an alternating reciprocating motion to two coaxial shafts connected by a reversing gear, which are connected to the operating levers of at least two selvedge healds. The mechanism allows selvedge healds to be operated independently of the main healds, without the added complication and expense of a separate camshaft.</p> |
