Light duty multipole connector socket - has integral internal spring contact and outgoing terminal

The connector contacts are entered from the front side (1) of the socket housing moulding so that the extension (9) from the spring contact projects through the base of the moulding. These extensions are then deformed to provide location and terminal ends. The preassembly is placed on a work plate (16) and the spring contact ends held by a clamp. The extensions (9) are located in individual slots in the vertical face of the work plate. Deforming tools (18, 19, 20, 22) in each slot are then pushed upwards to bend the extensions to a predetermined shape. The forming tools may include an anvil (30) for forming a snap on terminal, and also a cutter (31) for trimming the extensions to the requisite length after bending. Connector sockets of this type may be used on printed circuit boards.
