<p>PURPOSE:To make the spacing between both substrates even and improve display characteristics by mixing 0.001-5wt% of micro-spacers of 1000mu or under in length and 30mu or under in diameter in liquid and coating the mixture between the upper and lower substrates of the liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION:After upper electrodes are formed on, e.g., an upper electrode 1, a liquid crystal orientation control film 5 is formed and on the surface thereof is then dropped the liquid comprising mixing the powder of rigid glass fibers 12 or the like of about 10mu in diameter having been cut to about 50mu as micro-spacers at 50mg-100g of volatile liquid such as isopropyl alcohol or the like. With the substrate 1 being rotated at a high speed or the like, the liquid is coated over the entire surface and is then evaporated to allow the fibers 12 to deposit. Next, a sealant is coated on the circumferential end part 13 and the lower substrate having been formed with lower electrodes and orientation control film is bonded and solidified. In this way, the evenness of the spacing between the upper and lower substrates is held even in the large liquid crystal display device and the superior display in which the variations in the response time of liquid crystals is obviated is obtainable.</p> |
