The fixing device secures a first bar- or strip-type component to a second oblong supporting one by clamps passing through both. The material of the first component has a different coefficient of expansion to that of the second. Each clamp(25) is separately secured to the second component (2) in the lengthwise and transverse directions. At the fixing points, the first component(1) has elongated holes(11) extending in its lengthwise direction, the width of these holes being greater than the dia. of the openings(10) for the clamps in the second component.
