The pickup has a dip pipe with a measurement float, and is connected to the tank through a chamber on the dip pipe external periphery. It has a connecting hole for the dip pipe, and a communicating hole leading to the tank inside the staggered by an angle w.r.t. the former. The chamber is in the form of an annular channel (7), whose bottom (7') and both holes (9, 10) are just below a minimum level (12) at which a switch is operated, tripping a warning signal. The two holes (9, 10) are mutually staggered by almost 360 deg. The arrangement is esp. designed for the fuel tanks of road vehicles.
