PURPOSE:To obtain dentifrice effective for strengthening the surfaces of the teeth, promoting the calcification, and removing plaques attached to the teeth, by mixing hydroxyapatite powder with an organic matrix, and by adjusting the mixture to slightly or weakly acidic with an acid. CONSTITUTION:Dentifrice comprising 5-60wt% of hydroxy-apatite powder having an average particle size of 2mu, maximum size <=10mu, an organic matrix, and an acid, e.g. phosphoric, citric, or lactic acid, adjusted to slightly or weakly acidic, preferably pH 4-6.9. The dentifrice permits ready removal of plaques which will not be easily taken off by the neutral or weakly alkaline dentifrice, and is effective for preventing carious teeth. The hydroxyapatite of the same hardness as the teeth enamel, provides an unexcessive and effective polishing and a strengthening effects on the surfaces of the teeth. |
