Polyolefins with high bulk were prepd. by polymg. in the presence of catalysts contg. (1) powder obtained by pulverizing a mixt. of Mg or Mn halide, arom. hydrocarbon, and trior tetravalent Ti. compds. (2) trialkyl aluminium, (3) AlRnX3n (R = C1-10 alkyl; X = halogen; 0<n<3). Thus, a mixt. of 10g MgCl2, 1.2 g anthracene, 2.6 g TiCl4, and 0.9 g TiCl3 1/3AlCl3 was ball-milled for 16hr under N at room temp. to give a powder(I) contg. 40mg/g Ti. Hexane(1000 ml), 4.9 mmol Et2AlCl, 0.1 mmol Et3Al, and 30 mg I were charged into a 2l autoclave swept with N, and heated at 90≦̸C with stirring. C2H4 was continuously introduced ! for 1hr to give 155 g polythylene.
