A soln., such as the soln. of sodium hydroxide, was concentrated with multistage, multiple effect evaporator. Each effect of the evaporator was divided into more than two stages. The soln. having the highest vapor pressure among the stages of the second effect was heated with the vapor from the stage with the highest b.p. in the first effect.
