<p>1483725 Coated pipes TH GOLDSCHMIDT AG 7 July 1976 [16 July 1975] 28338/76 Addition to 1457401 Heading B2E [Also in Division F2] A metal (e.g. steel)-pipe is coated externally by applying to it a composition comprising a mixture of a polyurethane or epoxy resin and bituminous material, covering the coating with a rigid foam produced by introducing water into the raw materials for producing polyurethane mixed with bituminous material, wherein a stable filler of particle size 0.3 to 3.0 mm and heated to 70 to 230‹C is applied to the second coating during foaming, the filler penetrating the layer and accumulating in the walls separating the cells of the foam. Preferably the filler is quartz sand, and corundum is suitable. The coatings may be applied by a two component spray automatically traversing a rotating pipe. Examples of specific coating materials are given.</p> |
