Heat exchanger elements are in the form of tubular air type dry cooler elements for installation in a dry cooling tower. They are mounted at a distance above the base. Each element is formed from a series of tubes which are combined into a bundle. The bundles or groups have tensioning bars running between support beams and attached to the backing plates. These serve to hold the elements in tension. The upper and lower sides of the element are held in vertical clamp type devices. The tensioning bars are supported at intervals along their length. Used on dry cooling towers, the construction ensures that the walls or shell of the cooling tower are not subjected to stresses due to expansion and contraction in the elements.
