A thermostat for a radiator of a central heating system is installed in a fitting and retained by a nut which screws on to the pipe. To prevent any unauthorised re-setting of the thermostat the nut is enclosed in a plastics cover. The plastic cover consists of two identical half shells with a recess on one side and a matching claw on the other side. The two halves are placed around the nut and pressed together so that they are joined by a snap action of the claws inside the recesses and make a permanent joint.
