In a casting appts. designed to let air out of a mold cavity through the main gas vent communicated with plural branched gas vents at the back of the mold cavity, the mold is completed by stacking plural plate-shaped mold members (5,5') with partial cavities(4) forming the complete mold cavity(6). The branched gas vent(7) is formed at the suitable position of the contact surface of the mold members. A discharge pump which is mounted on the vent pipe(10) communicated with the main gas vent(9) lets air out of the mold cavity when pouring a molten metal into the mold cavity.
