Synthetic yarn or web treating roller has a cooling section acted upon externally by a cooling device which is effective to produce evapn. of liq. contained in the roller interior on the inner wall of the active section of the roller and condensn. of the liq. on the inner wall of the cooling section. Inner wall of the roller sleeve is provided with capillaries. Uniform cooling of rollers operating at speeds of 6000-12000 rpm is ensured.
