The still camera comprises a housing (1) and lens (2) and has a hinged cover (10) for a film cassette compartment. A slidable cover (11) for a battery compartment acts as a lock for the cover (10). The cover (11) has ribs (11a) which slide in grooves (12) of the housing (1) and grooves (10b) in a projecting shoulder (10a) of the cover (10). To prevent accidental opening, the grooves (12) have small projections (12) which engage recesses (11b) in ribs (11a). The end of the shoulder (10a) has small projections (10d) which engage recesses (12b) in grooves (12).
