The internal-gear pump or motor is for use with low-viscosity liqs. e.g. water or alcohol. The outer gear ring (2) with internal teeth rotates within a fixed housing ring (1) which, over part (B1) of its width (B) is provided with two pressure chambers (3) each extending circumferentially over no more than 160 deg. The circumferential ends of the chambers join the ring (1) bore at an acute angle to provide wedge-effect lubrication. The ends of the two chambers are separated by at least 10 deg. at the normal ring bore dia.
