PURPOSE:To early discover the fires of an air preheater-particularly, at a regeneration type rotary air preheater, and to automatically extinguish the fires. CONSTITUTION:When a fire starts at an air preheater 7, detectors 22 detect the fire when the initial fire, and transmit the information to a control box 24. The control box 24 gives fire alarms by means of a fire alarm 27 in a centralized control chamber 26 on the basis of the information while performing the following fire- fighting work. A fan 29 for sending air for combustion is suspended by the instructions of the control box 24 while an outlet damper 7b for air for combustion and an exhaust gas inlet damper 7a are each closed to perfectly interrupt the inflow of combustion air and exhaust gas into the air preheater 7, thus preventing the progress of the fire. A valve 32 and a valve 33 are opened, and the fire is extinguished by discharging a fire-fighting agent from fire extinguishers 34a and 34b mounted to the air preheater 7. In this case, the fire-fighting agent is atomized in such a manner that filtered water 35 and a fire-fighting agent undiluted solution 36 are mixed by means of a mixer 37 and sent to said fire extinguishers by means of a piping 38. |
