PURPOSE:To improve follow-up characteristics to the shaking of a disk surface by providing not less than two side rails along both edges of the surface of the magnetic converter floacting body of a magnetic disk unit. CONSTITUTION:At both edges of floating body 10, three side rails each, 11a-13a and 11b-13b, are provided and between respective side rails, grooves 14a and 15a, amd 14b and 15b for air are provided, so that each side rail will have an air film independently. As a result, rigidity of the air film and damping both increase nearly three times in comparsion with one with one side rail ar each edge and, therefore, its resonance frequency also increases approximately 1.7 times as high as the square of ''3''. In this way, follow-up characteristics of floating body 10 to a low frequency component of vibration of the disk surface will improve. |
