Organophosphorus fungicides. Cpds. of formula: X(R)P(=Y)-Z-A-Z-P(Y=)P(R)X (where R = lower alkyl, aryl (when Z = O) or aralkyl (all opt. Cl-substd.); X = alkoxy, aryloxy, primary or sec. amino or hydrazino, alkylthio, arylthio or benzylthio; or R and X together with P complete a phosphacyclopentenyl group; Y and Z are O and/or S; A is a divalent hydrocarbon group) are fungicides useful in crop and fruit cultivation; have chemotherapeutic fungicidal activity; and some have insecticidal and acaricidal activity. they may be prepd. by various reactions, from RP(S)Cl2.
