Repair kit for motor vehicle exhaust pipe - has semi-cylindrical sheets of asbestos and metal held over pipe by spring clip

The repair kit contains a sheet of asbestos in the shape of half a circular cylinder. This is placed over the hole in the exhaust pipe and covered by a similar but slightly longer piece of sheet steel. A U-shaped spring clip is pushed over them to hold them tight to the damaged section of the exhaust pipe. In case of need two such semicircular assemblies can reconnect two sections of an exhaust pipe which has completely broken in half. The kit is intended to effect only a temporary repair in the case of breakdowns during a journey.
