Article used in mfr. of sausages is a tube comprising a wound up envelope with composite sheathing which encloses the tube as to positin it whilst leaving its openings free. The supporting sheathing is composed of a hollow cylindrical part and dimensionally stable cappings at each end. The latter comprises a cylindrical mantle and a frontal face with central hole. The cylindrical component and the cap pieces are made of polyethylene. The article facilitates filling a sausage casing with its stuffing without risk of stretching the casing or otherwise deforming it during this operation.
