The mechanical resetter is for a logging mileage meter esp. in a combination instrument of a motor vehicle. A pivoted lever arm is coupled to the resetting mechanism in the meter. One end of the lever has a first sloping surface touching a slide. The latter is coupled to a slidable adjusting arm operable by the driver and orientated at nearly right angles to the lever arm. A sliding rod (5) is mounted between the pivoted lever arm (1) and the setting arm (11). The first sloping surface (4) of the arm (1) touches the first end (15) of the rod (5). The other end (14) of the latter (5) touches a second sloping surface of a wedge (10). The latter (10) is installed at the end of the arm (11).
