PURPOSE:To prolong the lifetime of a head by using a nonmagnetic metal oxide, causing no dispersion of glass, as clearance members in manufacture of the magnetic head where two magnetic bodies with formed grooves, notches, etc., are made in contact through clearance members and then connected together by a glass material. CONSTITUTION:For square pillar magnetic block bodies 21 and 22 provided with winding grooves 23 and 24 and corner notches 25 and 26 on its clearacne formation surfaces 21a and 22a, the above-mentioned clearance formation surfaces 21a and 22a are mirror-finished and a nonmagnetic metal oxide (e.g. ZrO2) is stuck to them to form film 27 as thick as a desired clearance. Next, magnetic bodies 21 and 22 are stacked confronting each other and then depressed to form winding hole 7 and notches 25 and 26, on which low-melting-point glass member 5 is mounted and then infiltrated into a junction part by melting to connect both magnetic bodies 21 and 22 in one. In accordance with an ordinary method, a tape run surface is formed and cutting into individual heads is done to obtain magnetic heads. |
