A warp-knitting machine has the needles in its single needle-bed arranged alternately in one of two separate needle-bars, whereby all the needles move together and simultaneously, but with different strokes, so that whilst the lapping heights are equal, the knock over heights of the two sets of needles differ. The stroke of at least one of the needle-bars is alterable during machine operation by means of a pattern device, and the width of the tricks for the needles in one needle-bar may be greater than those for the needles in the other bar. The machine is partic. suitable for the prodn. of loop-pile fabric, the ground fabric being produced on the needles with the shorter stroke and the pile threads lapping alternately each set of needles. Fabric of a novel structure can be produced; with loop-pile fabrics, the loop height is not dependent on the spacing between needles.
|
