<p>Hinge for opening and closing a cover which is opened upwardly with respect to a cabinet. In order to enable a cover to be attached to a hinge without providing the cover with mounting holes, the hinge of this invention comprises a pair of hinge plates (6), (7) forming the cover retainer (5) thereof. The side plates (6a), (6b) of one hinge plate (6) are pivotally secured to a hinge pin (8), and are provided with a pair of anchoring lugs (6d), (6d). One side of the other hinge plate (7) is inserted between the side plates (6b) and (6b) of the hinge plate (6) and engaged at substantially the center thereof with the lugs (6d), (6d) so that this hinge plate (7) will not be inverted in the separating direction from the one hinge plate (6). Attaching screws (9), (9) are provided on at least one of the pair of the hinge plates (6), (7) for fixing the cover inserted into the cover retainer (5). When the cover is inserted at the rear end thereof into the retainer (5) and the screws (9), (9) are tightened according to this invention, the pair of hinge plates (6), (7) will not open outwardly to one another to be released. Accordingly the cover is urged at the rear end thereof toward the one hinge plate (6) and is thus mounted to the hinge without providing the cover with mounting holes. Therefore, this invention is suited for use with a cover made of glass in which the provision of mounting holes is undesirable, or with a cover in which it would be very difficult to provide the holes.</p> |
