Cornstalks are mechanically or thermally fibrillated and formed into shapes. Partial drying by squeezing is interposed between the compaction and final drying stages to ensure that the briquette does not stick to the drying plates or drum case. The drum can be coated in plastics to prevent this, or a thin paper layer can be placed between material and drum or plates and pressed to the briquette thus retaining more moisture in the finished product.
