High flow forming friction coefficient layer

A material with a high coefficient of friction is interposed at the starting stages of the press flow deformation of mandrel mounted circulare cross section profile workpieces by pressing rolls. The material, which is pref. elastic, can be attached to a specially machined chamfer on the workpiece, or to the forming rolls as a disc. The function of the layer is to minimise damage to rolls and workpiece as a result of inertia drag in the initial stages of forming when the roll is accelerated by the workpiece to reach the same rotational speed as the workpiece.
