Insulated wire, which can be fused together under heat and pressure after winding, has two insulating layers, the first (A) consisting of heat-hardening polyester resin and the second (B) of a polyaromatc polycarboxylic aromatic imide. Over these is a thermpolastic polyester bonding resin (C). All the coatings on the conducter are applied using the same hardening and stoving conditions, without thermal degradation of (C) occurring and leading to hair cracks or breaks. (C) pref. consists of a mixture of polyesters containing tere- and iso-phthalic acid ethylene glycol and neopentenyl glycol groups, with lower softening point than the individual polyesters. The wire has insulation of improved dimensional stability and reduced plastic flow with satisfactory resistance against thermal shock. It is suitable for making yoke coils for colour TV. sets.
