<p>A hydraulic system for raising and lowering a load by means of a fluid motor includes a counterbalance valve which controls the flow of fluid to and from the motor. The counterbalance valve has a pilot operated metering orifice which passes fluid from the motor when the load is lowered and a compensator valve which maintains a fixed pressure differential across the metering orifice. This results in a fixed flow of fluid through the metering orifice when the load is lowered.</p> |
