PURPOSE:To eliminate dead space looking from a driver's seat and prevent an accident due to a left-turning vehicle, by bending a glass plate having flat projections, cutting the bent glass plate to obtain a rear-view mirror which has no distortion and a nonuniform radius of curvature. CONSTITUTION:A glass plate 5 is cut off so that flat projections 6 are provided on the plate 5. The plate is then set on a baking mold of nonuniform radius of curvature so that the plate 5 is bent. As a result, a mirror whose radius of curvature ranges from 350mm at the top to 200mm at the bottom is manufactured. Since distortions 8 are produced on areas A, B due to the bending, the mirror is cut along lines 7A-7B, 7C-7D to eliminate the distortions. An integrally formed rear- view mirror having no distortion and a nonuniform radius of curvature is thus obtained. When the rear-view mirror is mounted on a vehicle by a fitted fixation ring, the rear view can be confirmed by a surface part of 600mm in radius of curvature and the view of the space just under the driver's seat can be confirmed by a surface part of 200mm in radius of curvature. Therefore, the range necessary for turning to the left can be checked. |
