Cascade-type trickling aerator for water, particularly for use in aerating industrial effluent or for the displacement of volatile gases dissolved in water, in which the water to be aerated is delivered to the trickling apparatus via a distributor and the aerated water from the whole apparatus is withdrawn from an associated pump sump, from which part of the water is recycled by a circulating pump. The appts. is built up from three kinds of plastic troughs, namely (a) a first type of plastic trough has a regular hexagongal shape, the vertical boundary surfaces of which are of different height and alternate as higher and lower surfaces (b) second and third types of plastic trough, each being in plan half a regular hexagon, one having three higher and one lower vertical boundary surfaces and the other two higher and two lower vertical boundary surfaces. The three kinds of trough are superimposed in such a way that except for the lowest layer of troughs, each lower vertical boundary surface on one trough rests on a higher vertical boundary surface of a plastic trough placed below it. |
