Lines from single vats outside are led to an acrylic glass container and fed in through a base-fitted lip valve for each line. The valves issue into the water partly filling the container which has been piped in through a cock at base level also used to draw the water off later. On the top of the container are a pressure gauge and a valve which links the space in the container above the water level to the atmosphere so as to control the pressure inside the container and hold it steady.
