1,216,269. Moulding covering elements. F. AZZONI. 20 Feb., 1968 [20 Feb., 1967], No. 8246/68. Heading B5A. A laminated plastics element, for use in covering an article having a plurality of flat intersecting faces, is made by hot pressing a resin impregnated laminate between dies which impart to the portions of the element intended to cover the major faces of the article a curved configuration. In use, the curved portions are distended to a flat configuration on application to the faces of the article. In the embodiment shown in the Figure, an element intended for covering the large face and side edges of a kitchen door, is pressed between matched dies, the major portions 1 of the element being curved whilst the side covering portions remain flat. The major portion meets the side covering portions at V-shaped apices, the limbs of each V being symmetrically disposed about the pressing axis X-X. In this way a uniform pressure is applied to the two limbs in each of the apices. In a second embodiment (see Fig. 2, not shown), the pressed laminate has two curved portions and is adapted to cover two sides of a cubic article. |
