<p>PURPOSE:To greatly simplify the assembly of a master cylinder which is used for the hydraulic brake of a motorcycle or the like, by preparing a cylindrical guide separately from the body of the master cylinder and inserting the guide and a piston assembly into a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A master cylinder is operated by a lever attached to the handlebar of a motorcycle. A cylinder 22, which defines a liquid chamber 18, and a cylinderical part 23, whose diameter increases from a step part 24, are concentrically located in the body 30 of the master cylinder. A piston 19 provided with a primary seal 7 is fitted in the cylinder 22. The liquid chamber 18 is connected to the output part of a hydraulic brake through an outlet passage 13. A secondary seal 8, which is located in sliding contact with a small-diameter shaft part 19a, is fitted in a large-diameter cylindrical part 23 provided at the butt of a guide 4. One end of a dust-proof boot 3 is engaged with the cylindrical part 32. This results in greatly simplifying the assembly of the master cylinder and improving the efficiency of the assembly work.</p> |
