Substituted N-(5-tetrazolyl)-1-oxo-1H-pyrimido[1,2-a]quinoline-2-carboxamides of formula I are obtained by acylation of 5-aminotetrazole with an acid of formula II, in the presence of a dehydrating agent. The symbols in these two formulae are defined in Claim 1. The reaction can be carried out using dehydrating agents commonly used in the synthesis of peptides. The compounds of formula I and their pharmaceutically usable salts are useful as antiallergic agents in that they prevent anaphylaxis mediators from causing bronchoconstriction. <IMAGE> <IMAGE>
