<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently melt glass raw material by supplying glass raw material layers on the surface of molten glass base material between glass cullet layers supplied to the surface of the base material adjacent to both side walls of a glass vessel kiln to prevent the supplied raw material from contacting the side walls. CONSTITUTION:Using raw material charger 6 glass raw material 7 and glass cullets 8, 8' are extrusion-supplied onto molten glass base material 2 in glass vessel kiln 1 in layers through inclined plate 13 from the central part of hopper 10 between partition plates 9, 9' and both ends of hopper 10, respectively, while regulating widths of cullets 8, 8' with supply width regulation plates 11, 11'. When raw material piles 14 are formed on material 2, material 2 is isolated from the heat of combustion flames and deprived of its heat owing to melting of piles 14. On the other hand, on material 2 adjacent to side walls 3, 3' of kiln 1 cullets 8, 8' are rapidly melted, and the molten cullet temp. becomes higher than the temp. of material 2. Accordingly, piles 14 shift toward the center of kiln 1 by means of convection currents formed.</p> |
