A polyamide multifilament yarn and a polyester multifilament yarn are folded together. The folded multifilament yarn is then subjected to false twist texturing at a temperature below the setting temperature of the polyester used, preferably at 180 DEG C. This makes possible the efficient production of a mixed textured multifilament yarn having a wool-like surface structure. The mixed textured filament yarn confers on a textile sheet material produced therefrom a soft, wool handle and a surface character otherwise typical only of spun yarns.
