The invention relates to a process for the production of sodium aluminate. The process comprises fluidized bed drying of an aluminate solution at 250 to 400.degree.C.The process is conducted using aluminate solutions with a concentration between 45 and 350 g/l of caustic Na2O and molecular ratio of caustic Na2O to A12O3 from 1.1 to 1.8. The process according to the invention is characterized by simple production method and equipment and stable operating conditions.
