A method of assembling together metal parts of an antifriction bearing assembly, comprises forming the bearing mounting bracket 25, with a plurality of pairs of projections, the projections of each pair being relatively offset and on opposite sides of the part, placing another part on each side of the bracket and contacting the projections, and then subjecting the assembly to a welding current to weld the parts together. The projections of each pair are preferably only slightly offset relative to each other so that their fusion produces a single weld bead, and although they may be relatively offset in any direction, they are preferably offset so as to be equidistant from the centre of the bracket. The bearing assembly comprises the dished mounting bracket in the central aperture of which is mounted the sealing by means of two flanged caps 38, 39 having radially extending flanges 46, 47 which contact and are welded to the projections on the mounting bracket. |
