The switching-off circuit has a diode or similar exhibiting delayed switching due to charge carrier storage. This diode is connected in series with the secondary winding (3) of a pulse transformer whose primary winding (4) receives control pulses. The diode/secondary combination is connected across the thyristor (1) being turned off. The diode is poled in the opposite direction to the thyristor. With the thyristor on, the load current (IL) flows via the secondary to the diode and turns the thyristor off. The diode was charged beforehand by a positive current via the thyristor. After a given time-5.50 microseconds, depending on the thyristor - the thyristor turns off. It can be switched on again in the usual way by applying a pulse to its gate. |
